I was recently in Campbell River and visited the Campbell River Museum where the featured exhibit was a lovely exploration of quilts created by the Campbell River Friendship Quilter’s Guild called Variationsin Quilting. The exhibit featured many beautiful quilts in a variety of styles. There were a number of ‘hands-on’ exhibits (a little design wall with 2.5″ squares for little hands to try out; some examples of quilting and machine embroidery to touch and feel the texture etc.)
The thing that most impressed me was the table shown below which showed all the elements needed to make a 65″ x 65″ throw quilt. The various items were shown with an approximate price and there was a final tally including the time value. I have to say I felt validated, although I think most of us have quilting skills well above the BC minimum wage of $17.85/hr.
