Our vegetable gardens are finishing with a flourish (zucchini anyone?) and the nights are cooler. The end of August is always a little bittersweet – preparing to return to the ordinary days after the freedom of summer for many of us; students getting ready for a new school year; readying the cottage for the cooler weather – it means different things to us all. For members of the Squamish Quilters Guild it means a return to regular meetings, a new membership year (shameless reminder to renew your membership – information can be found here), shorter days and cooler evenings for more comfortable sewing. We look forward to seeing all the familiar faces and hopefully welcoming a few new members to the fold.
The first meeting of our new year will be Wednesday, September 7th at the Sandman Hotel and Suites. We will have a sew day from 9:00am – 4:00pm (everyone is welcome – bring your sewing machine and your current project and enjoy a day full of companionship and fun. No current project – come and look through our pile of community quilts that need your help getting finished.) We’ll provide coffee and tea. The business meeting will begin at 6:30pm and an agenda will be posted very soon. As always we will have a show and share at the end of the evening so feel free to bring along a recent finish or great find to share with your fellow quilters.
